Regular Season Round 25: Anadolu Efes - Antalya 77-70

There was no surprise in Istanbul where 14th ranked Antalya (7-18) was defeated by second ranked Anadolu Efes (21-4) 77-70 on Saturday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-12. But Antalya won second period 20-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Anadolu Efes dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Antalya's 28. American guard Oliver Lafayette (188-84, college: Houston) stepped up and scored 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and Serbian power forward Dusko Savanovic (204-83, agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 8 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side U.S. Virgin Islands center Frank Elegar (206-86, college: Drexel) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and American guard Corey Fisher (185-88, college: Villanova) scored 15 points. Four Antalya players scored in double figures. Anadolu Efes have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Galatasaray. Loser Antalya dropped to the thirteenth place with 18 games lost. They share the position with Olin Edirne. Anadolu Efes will meet bottom-ranked Bandirma Kir. (#16) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Antalya will play against Tofas in Bursa and hope to secure a win.
