Regular Season Round 31: Musson - VolinBasket 70-73

The most exciting game of round 31 in the Higher League took place in Symferopil. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 3rd placed Musson (21-7) to second ranked VolinBasket (23-5) 73-70 in the game for the second place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Musson. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 73-70. VolinBasket made 28-of-37 free shots (75.7 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Musson turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Vladimir Zhurzhiy (182-78) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and 4 assists. Guard Bogdan Karebin (191-78) contributed with 11 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. VolinBasket's coach Sergei Smityukh used entire bench in such tough game. Guard Artem Shchepkin (194-86, agency: New Trend Agency) answered with 17 points and power forward Dmitro Semenov (204-79) added 10 points (made all of his eight free throws) in the effort for Musson. VolinBasket maintains second place with 23-5 record having 2 victories less than leader Avantazh-Pol. Newly promoted Musson keeps the third position with seven games lost. VolinBasket are looking forward to face league's leader Avantazh-Politekhnik in Kharkov in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Musson will play on the road against Ternopil-TNEU and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
