Tenth-ranked Kryvbasbasket (14-23) made lots of trouble for first ranked Budivelnyk (28-7) in Krivoy Rog on Monday. The visitors from Kyiv managed to secure only one-point victory 88-87. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 24-20 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Budivelnyk dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Kryvbasbasket's 38. American forward Zach Morley (203-83, college: Wisconsin) fired 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. His fellow American import point guard Jack McClinton (185-85, college: Miami, FL) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. Budivelnyk's coach Zvezdan Mitrovic used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Serbian power forward Dalibor Djapa (204-84, agency: Alti Sport) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and American guard Pierce Caldwell (191-88, college: Incarnate Word, agency: Alti Sport) added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Four Budivelnyk and five Kryvbasbasket players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains first place with 28-7 record. Kryvbasbasket at the other side keeps the tenth position with 23 games lost. Budivelnyk are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Halychyna (#14) in Lviv in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Kryvbasbasket will have a break next round.
