A very close game took place in Dniprodzerzhynsk between DniproAzot and Cherkasy. Twelfth ranked DniproAzot (11-25) got a very close home victory over 13th ranked Cherkasy (8-28). DniproAzot managed to escape with a 3-point win 77-74 on Monday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-17. But Cherkasy won second period 22-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American center Michael Dunigan (208-89, college: Oregon, agency: N.E.T.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and Filipino-American point guard Stanley Pringle (184-87, college: Penn St.) chipped in 10 points and 10 assists. Four DniproAzot players scored in double figures. DniproAzot's coach Donaldas Kairys allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side Montenegrin guard Ivan Koljevic (185-84, agency: New Trend Agency) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists and guard Alexandr Nerush (192-83) scored 16 points. DniproAzot moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Mykolaiv. Cherkasy lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with 28 games lost. DniproAzot will meet at home higher ranked Khimik (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cherkasy will play against Halychyna (#14) in Lviv and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
