There was no surprise in Izmir where 15th ranked Tire Gucu (12-22) was defeated by eleventh ranked Gelisim (15-19) 63-56 on Wednesday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 19-10. But Tire Gucu won second period 19-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for forward Emre Ozpulat (200-82) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. American guard Derek Williams (185-85, college: SMU) helped adding 13 points and 4 assists. Gelisim's coach Deniz Atak used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Alper Yuce (-92) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 15 rebounds and American forward Justin Carter (193-87, college: Creighton, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Gelisim moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Istanbul B.B. Tire Gucu lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fourteenth position with 22 games lost. Gelisim will face Istanbulspor (#17) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Tire Gucu will play against Darussafaka in Istanbul.
