An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Kaunas. First ranked Zalgiris faced their biggest opponent Lietuvos rytas. Host Zalgiris (20-1) defeated guests from Vilnius (18-4) 86-81. It looked good early as Lietuvos rytas took an 12-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Zalgiris took control getting tie in the second period and winning the second half and eventually winning the game that evening by 5 points. Zalgiris shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Mantas Kalnietis (196-86, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Croatian guard Marko Popovic (185-82, college: S.Idaho JC, agency: Alti Sport) contributed with 17 points and 8 assists for the winners. Four Zalgiris players scored in double figures. Zalgiris' coach Aleksandar Trifunovic allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American point guard Tyrese Rice (185-87, college: Boston Coll., agency: Priority Sports) replied with 22 points and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and the former international forward Mindaugas Katelynas (206-83, college: Chattanooga) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Lietuvos rytas. Zalgiris have an impressive 20-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 20-1 record. Lietuvos rytas at the other side keeps the second place with four games lost.
