Everything went according to plan in Istanbul where thirteenth ranked Pertevniyal (14-21) beat 15th ranked Orman Genc (12-23) 76-71 on Friday. Orman Genc trailed by 14 points at halftime and as many as 16 after three quarters before a 27-16 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 71-76 at the end of the game. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Osman Sirin (207-90, college: Charlotte) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Myles McKay (193-86, college: WiscKing.-Whitew., agency: Two Points) who added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. McKay is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Pertevniyal players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Sinan Ozgur with 18 points and 8 rebounds and forward Hasan Karabulut (202-81) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Pertevniyal maintains thirteenth position with 14-21 record. Loser Orman Genc dropped to the fourteenth place with 23 games lost. Pertevniyal will face higher ranked Genc Telekom (#3) in Ankara in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Orman Genc will play at home against Akhisar Bld (#8).
