Second Stage Round 5: Krka - Un.Olimpija 58-47

Undefeated Union Olimpija (4-1) recorded its first loss in Novo Mesto on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by third ranked Krka (3-2) 58-47. The game was mostly controlled by Krka. Union Olimpija managed to win fourth quarter 15-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was international swingman Zoran Dragic (196-89) who scored 21 points and 6 rebounds. Israeli-French point guard Afik Nissim (180-81, agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 11 points. Krka's coach Aleksandar Sekulic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Deon Thompson (203-88, college: N.Carolina) produced 16 points and 8 rebounds and Finnish point guard Sasu Salin (190-91) added 9 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Defending champion maintains third place in League with 3-2 record behind leader Union Olimpija. Union Olimpija at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. Krka are looking forward to face Zlatorog (#4) in Lasko in the next round. Union Olimpija will play at home against Elektra in Sostanj and is hoping to win this game.
