Regular Season Round 39: BC Kyiv - Budivelnyk 80-65

Superleague round 39 caused change at the leadership position. Eighth defeat of league's leader Budivelnyk (30-8) against ninth ranked BC Kyiv (20-18) 80-65 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Budivelnyk. Budivelnyk was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Budivelnyk helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American guard Derrick Zimmerman (191-81, college: Mississippi St.) who led his team to a victory with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import forward Vernon Goodridge (206-84, college: La Salle) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Goodridge is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four BC Kyiv players scored in double figures. Dominican guard Luis Flores (188-81, college: Manhattan) answered with 14 points and the former international forward Andriy Agafonov (207-86, agency: Interperformances) added 10 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Budivelnyk. Budivelnyk's coach Zvezdan Mitrovic rotated eleven players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. BC Kyiv maintains ninth place with 20-18 record. Defending champion Budivelnyk still keeps top position with eight games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by BC Donetsk who have the same record. Budivelnyk will play next round against league's leader BC Donetsk trying to make it back to the top of the standings. BC Kyiv will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked BC Odessa at home.
