Regular Season Round 25: Rilski Sportist - Balkan 77-61

There was no surprise in Samokov where 6th ranked Balkan (8-17) was defeated by third ranked Rilski Sportist (16-9) 77-61 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Rilski Sportist. Balkan managed to win fourth quarter 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Rilski Sportist looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Serbian power forward Filip Vukosavljevic (205-83) fired 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Hristo Zahariev (200-90) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Power forward Dimitar Marintchechki (201-90, agency: Dynamics Global Management) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds and guard Dimitar Filipov (185-89) added 13 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Rilski Sportist maintains third place with 16-9 record having seven points less than leader Lukoil Academik. Balkan lost their third game in a row. They keep the sixth position with 17 games lost. Rilski Sportist are looking forward to face Spartak Pleven (#7) on the road in the next round. Balkan will play against Euroins Cherno More in Varna and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
