Regular Season Round 25: Levski Sofia - Spartak Pleven 116-86

Very expected game when 7th ranked Spartak Pleven (5-20) was rolled over on the road by second ranked Levski Sofia (20-5) 116-86 on Tuesday. Spartak Pleven trailed 52-49 at halftime, rallying from a 34-20 deficit at the end of first quarter to trim the gap. Levski Sofia dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Spartak Pleven's 38. Levski Sofia forced 23 Spartak Pleven turnovers and outrebounded them 38-17 including a 27-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Levski Sofia especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 60.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists. American swingman Aaron Harper (199-81, college: Mississippi, agency: Strategic Sports) fired 33 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. His fellow American import guard Marcus Hall (185-85, college: Colorado) chipped in 23 points and 5 assists. Levski Sofia's coach Konstantin Papazov felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Todor Todorov (198-82) produced a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and guard Aleksandar Dyakovski (185-82) added 17 points and 10 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Levski Sofia maintains second place with 20-5 record having just three points less than leader Lukoil Academik. Loser Spartak Pleven keeps the seventh position with 20 games lost. Levski Sofia are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Chernomorets (#8) in Burgas in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Spartak Pleven will play at home against Rilski Sportist in Samokov and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
