Regular Season Round 27: Hacettepe - Turk Telekom 80-78

A very interesting game took place in Ankara. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 9th ranked Turk Telekom (11-16) to eleventh ranked Hacettepe Univ. (11-16) 80-78 in the game for the ninth place. The hosts were ahead by 2 points but lost the second period ending it with a 4-point deficit before their 20-14 run, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for American forward Ricardo Marsh (207-81, college: ODU, agency: Top Notch Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds. The former international swingman Rifat Murat Kaya (194-84, agency: 1x1 Sports) contributed with 22 points and 4 assists for the winners. Forward Nedim Yucel (203-79) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and American forward Ali Karadeniz (203-80, college: Arizona) added 14 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) in the effort for Turk Telekom. Five Turk Telekom players scored in double figures. Turk Telekom's coach Timucin Meric tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Hacettepe Univ. moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Turk Telekom and Erdemir. Turk Telekom lost their third game in a row. Hacettepe Univ.'s next round opponent will be higher ranked Fenerbahce Ulker (#5) in Istanbul and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
