Regular Season Round 27: Galatasaray - Fener.Ulker 84-72

Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Istanbul: Galatasaray (#1) and Fenerbahce Ulker (#5). Galatasaray (23-4) won against visiting Fenerbahce Ulker (19-8) 84-72. It looked good early as Fenerbahce Ulker took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Galatasaray had a 19-15 second period charge getting the lead and Fenerbahce Ulker was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 72-84. They outrebounded Fenerbahce Ulker 37-24 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for international forward Furkan Aldemir (207-91, agency: Beo Basket) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Slovenian guard Jaka Lakovic (186-78) accounted for 17 points for the winning side. Five Galatasaray players scored in double figures. Galatasaray's coach Oktay Mahmudi allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international center Oguz Savas (212-87) came up with 12 points and Croatian guard Roko-Leni Ukic (196-84) added 13 points respectively for Fenerbahce Ulker in the defeat. Galatasaray have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 23-4 record. Defending champion Fenerbahce Ulker keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. Galatasaray will play against Mersin (#12) in Akdeniz in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Fenerbahce Ulker will play at home against Hacettepe Univ. (#10) in Ankara and hopes to get back on the winning track.
