Regular Season Round 31: NY Phantoms - B.Muenchen 88-91

The most exciting game of round 31 in the BBL took place in Braunschweig. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 7th ranked New Yorker Phantoms (16-14) to sixth ranked Bayern Muenchen (19-12) 91-88 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of New Yorker Phantoms. New Yorker Phantoms were trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 26-18 charge of Bayern Muenchen, which allowed them to win the game. They made 28-of-31 free shots (90.3 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Bayern Muenchen especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 60.0 percentage. 27 personal fouls committed by New Yorker Phantoms helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for American guard Jonathan Wallace (187-86, college: Georgetown, agency: Pro One Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points (made all of his ten free throws !!!). American-Bulgarian center Jared Homan (206-83, college: Iowa St.) helped adding 19 points and 5 rebounds. Bayern Muenchen's coach Dirk Bauermann used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side Nigerian-American point guard Michael Umeh (188-84, college: UNLV, agency: Pro One Sports) responded with 19 points and 7 rebounds and Serbian forward Branko Jorovic (205-81, agency: Beo Basket) scored 21 points. Five New Yorker Phantoms players scored in double figures. Bayern Muenchen have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with s.Oliver Baskets. New Yorker Phantoms at the other side keep the seventh position with 14 games lost. Bayern Muenchen is looking forward to face league's leader Brose Baskets in Bamberg in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. New Yorker Phantoms will play on the road against Artland Dragons (#4) in Quakenbrueck and are hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
