Everything went according to plan in Ankara where third ranked Genc Telekom (27-9) edged 13th ranked Pertevniyal (14-22) 71-68 on Monday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 18-13 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Forward Kadir Cipa (205-88) fired 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. point guard Can Ugur Ogut (178-92) chipped in 14 points. Center Ramazan Tekin (212-93) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and American guard Myles McKay (193-86, college: WiscKing.-Whitew., agency: Two Points) added 12 points respectively for lost side. Pertevniyal's coach Menderes Gumusdal tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Genc Telekom have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain third place with 27-9 record having just two points less than leader Selcuk Univ. Pertevniyal at the other side keeps the thirteenth position with 22 games lost. Genc Telekom will face Akhisar Bld (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Pertevniyal will play against Gaziantep (#6).
