Rather expected game when 6th ranked Balkan (9-18) was crushed on the road by fourth ranked Tundja Yambol (17-10) 92-61. The game was mostly controlled by Tundja Yambol. Balkan was better in second period 23-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Balkan 36-24 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Tundja Yambol especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 64.7 percentage. It was an exceptional evening for American center John Ofoegbu (206-84, college: Idaho St.) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds. The former international guard Julian Radionov (188-79) accounted for 17 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists for the winning side. Five Tundja Yambol players scored in double figures. Guard Stanimir Marinov (191-91) came up with 14 points and forward Lubomir Lilov (198-87) added 9 points respectively for Balkan in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tundja Yambol have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to third place. Balkan at the other side keeps the sixth position with 18 games lost. Tundja Yambol will play against Spartak Pleven (#7) on the road in the next round. Balkan will play against the league's leader Lukoil Academik in Sofia and hopes to get back on the winning track.
