Twelfth-ranked Erdemir (11-18) was very close to win a game against first ranked Galatasaray (24-5) in Istanbul on Saturday. Galatasaray managed to secure only four-point victory 85-81. However their fans expected much easier game. Erdemir was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Jamon Lukas Gordon (191-84, college: Virginia Tech) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 6 assists. Slovenian guard Jaka Lakovic (186-78) contributed with 16 points for the winners. American forward Antwayne Robinson (203-84, college: Temple, agency: Priority Sports) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import guard Gerrod Henderson (192-78, college: Louisiana Tech) added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Erdemir. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Galatasaray maintains first place with 24-5 record, which they share with Banvit BK. Erdemir at the other side dropped to the eleventh position with 18 games lost. Galatasaray will face Aliaga (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Erdemir will play against Hacettepe Univ. (#12) in Ankara and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
