Russia opened U20 EuroBasket with victory. They outplayed United Kingdom on Thursday 55-49 for 1-0 record in Preliminary Group D. Participants of this pool are also Slovakia and Serbia. Stolyar scored 13 points for the winners and Tikhonenko helped her team with 9 points plus 11 rebounds. Kiseleva followed them with 8 points in this game. United Kingdom got 16 points and 7 boards from Busch and she was their only player with double digits in scoring. Cheridene Green was close to double-double with 9 points and 12 rebounds, while Olufemi Hamilton stopped to 8 points. Russia was up by 12 points at midway of Q4 and UK only came to minus 6 for rest of the game. Quarters: 15-11, 15-12, 14-15, 11-11). Russia will play against Slovakia on today. UK will meet Serbia.
