Preliminary Round Day 1: SWEDEN - POLAND 56-54

Sweden grabbed 56-54 win against Poland at the beginning of U20 EuroBasket in Debrecin. Amanda Zahui made a basket for Sweden setting the score to 54-51 with 26 seconds remaining in the game and Stelmach answered with lay-up 16 seconds later. Sweden had the possession and Drammeh was sent to the line making both free throws. Poland had the ball with 9 seconds left, but Sweden quickly fouled Magdalena Zietara, who missed first and scored second FT. Sweden called a time-out and after that managed to keep the ball for rest of the way. Farhiya Abdi stepped up for the winners with 21 points and Zahui added 13 points, plus 12 rebounds. Binta Drammeh netted 8 points in this victory. Poland got 16 points from Zietara, while Stelmach collected 14 points and 7 rebounds. Poland did not have any other player with double digits in scoring. Quarters: 17-18, 11-12, 12-12, 16-12. Sweden will meet Italy on Friday, while Poland will play against Dutch NT. All teams are placed to Group B.
