Very important is a road loss of second ranked Brasov (1-1) against fourteenth ranked Sf.Gheorghe (1-1) on Saturday night. Visiting Brasov was crushed by Sf.Gheorghe in Sfantu Gheorghe 77-52. The game without a history. Sf.Gheorghe led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Brasov to just 7 points in first quarter. Sf.Gheorghe dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Brasov's 26. Sf.Gheorghe forced 22 Brasov turnovers and outrebounded them 48-36 including 21 on the offensive glass. American swingman Jasmin Bailey (172-90, college: Ill.-Chicago) orchestrated the victory by scoring 30 points and 8 rebounds. The other American import guard Jence Rhoads (180-88, college: Vanderbilt) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Sf.Gheorghe players scored in double figures. point guard Gabriela Cursaru (169-92) replied with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and American forward Melani Thornton (185-88, college: Butler) added 10 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Brasov. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sf.Gheorghe left bottom position moving up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Brasov. Sf.Gheorghe will play against Oradea (#14) in Oradea in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Brasov will play at home against Alexandria (#12) to get more than just one victory in their record.
