Regular Season Round 2: Azovmash - Khimik 66-74

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Azovmash (1-1) in Mariupol. Hosts were defeated by Khimik (1-0) 74-66. Azovmash was ahead by 3 points after three quarters before a 29-18 charge of Khimik, which allowed them to win the game. They outrebounded Azovmash 45-30 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Khimik brought some defensive toughness making 10 blocks. American-Bulgarian point guard Willie Deane (188-80, college: Purdue, agency: Higher Vision Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points and 7 assists. Montenegrin-Bosnian swingman Suad Sehovic (196-87) contributed with 9 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. The former international center Oleksiy Pecherov (213-85) replied with 17 points and 6 rebounds and Bosnian point guard Nemanja Gordic (193-88) added 14 points and 6 assists in the effort for Azovmash. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. It was the only win of guest team this round and in all other games host teams recorded victories. Khimik will play against BC Donetsk on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Azovmash will play against Mykolaiv to get more than just one victory in their record.
