Regular Season Round 3: Craiova - Timisoara 69-71

A very interesting game took place in Craiova. It ended with only two-point home defeat of 13th ranked Craiova (1-2) to leader Timisoara (2-0) 71-69 on Thursday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The guests were already 11 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 19-10 Craiova's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 71-69 at the end of the game. Timisoara forced 30 Craiova turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for Serbian guard Biljana Pesovic (180-83) who led the winners and scored 39 points (!!!) and 4 steals. American guard Tiffany Brown (165-86, college: Georgia South) accounted for 18 points and 6 steals for the winning side. Forward Janina Simionca (176-84) came up with 18 points and 6 rebounds and Serbian guard Marija Prlja (163-87) added 12 points and 5 assists respectively for Craiova in the defeat. Timisoara moved-up to fourth place. Craiova at the other side dropped to the tenth position with two games lost. Timisoara's next round opponent will be Rapid (#9) in Bucuresti which should be theoretically an easy game. Craiova will play at home against Olimpia in Bucuresti and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
