The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Khimik as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Khimik defeated bottom-ranked BC Kyiv in Yuzhny 77-64. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 77-64. 25 personal fouls committed by BC Kyiv helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American-Bulgarian point guard Willie Deane (188-80, college: Purdue, agency: Higher Vision Sports) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 assists for the winners and American forward Vernon Goodridge (206-84, college: La Salle) chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds. Khimik have a solid series of three victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. BC Kyiv at the other side still closes the standings with two games lost. They share the position with Mykolaiv. BC Kyiv will play next round against BC Odessa trying to get back on the winning streak. Khimik will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Budivelnyk in Kyiv.
