There was a minor upset in Vilnius where higher ranked Statyba (1-1) was defeated by eighteenth ranked Zanavykas (1-1) 85-71 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 47-32 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Zanavykas dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Statyba's 34 and made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Zanavykas forced 21 Statyba turnovers and outrebounded them 38-27 including 24 on the defensive glass. Guard Edgaras Stanionis (193-88) had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and center Vilius Sumskis (213-84, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. Four Zanavykas players scored in double figures. Forward Darius Tarvydas (200-91) responded with 19 points and 6 rebounds and center Vitalijus Luksa (206-86) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. Zanavykas left bottom position moving up to fourth place, which they share with 11 other teams including defeated Statyba. Zanavykas will face Olimpas (#4) in the next round. Statyba will play against Gargzdai-Bremena.
