Everything could happen in Quakenbrueck at the game between two tied teams. Both fifteenth ranked Deutsche Bank Skyliners and bottom-ranked Artland Dragons had identical 0-1 record. But Artland Dragons were not able to use a home court advantage and were defeated by the opponent from Frankfurt 89-80 on Saturday night. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-12. But Artland Dragons won second period 20-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was guard Quantez Robertson (189-84, college: Auburn) who scored 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. point guard Larry Wright (188-87, college: Oakland) chipped in 21 points. Robertson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Deutsche Bank Skyliners players scored in double figures. Guard Bryce Taylor (196-86) produced 21 points and guard Marquez Haynes (191-86, college: Texas Arlington) added 18 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) respectively for the hosts. Deutsche Bank Skyliners (1-1) left bottom position moving up to sixth place, which they share with 8 other teams. Loser Artland Dragons still closes the standings with two games lost. Deutsche Bank Skyliners will face Mitteldeutscher BC (#17) in Weissenfels in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Artland Dragons will play on the road against Bayern Muenchen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
