Regular Season Round 6: Halychyna - Dnipro 85-83

A very interesting game took place in Lviv. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 11th ranked Dnipro (1-3) to sixth ranked Halychyna (2-1) 85-83 on Sunday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Halychyna outrebounded Dnipro 37-24 including 26 on the defensive glass. 24 personal fouls committed by Dnipro helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American point guard Darrel Mitchell (181-84, college: LSU, agency: Beo Basket) notched 23 points to lead the effort and Bosnian guard Goran Ikonic (196-80, agency: Beo Basket) supported him with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Even 22 points and 4 assists by American point guard Derrick Low (188-86, college: Washington St.) did not help to save the game for Dnipro. Lithuanian forward Valdas Vasylius (203-83, college: ODU) added 16 points and 6 rebounds. Four Dnipro players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Halychyna moved-up to fifth place, which they share with BC Donetsk and Hoverla. Dnipro at the other side keeps the eleventh position with three games lost. Halychyna will have a break next round. Dnipro will play at home against Azovmash (#4) in Mariupol.
