Cluj Napoca's fans can celebrate the first win of their team after three consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Brasov (2-2) 58-53 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 13-5 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Cluj Napoca dominated on the defensive end, holding Brasov to just 5 points in fourth quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Flavia Ferenczi (175-91) who helped to win the game recording 29 points. Center Andreea Pop (180-90) contributed with 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. point guard Gabriela Cursaru (169-92) replied with 15 points, 6 assists and 4 steals and American forward Melani Thornton (185-88, college: Butler) added 6 points and 16 rebounds in the effort for Brasov. Cluj Napoca (1-3) left bottom position moving up to eleventh place, which they share with Sp.Studentesc and Alexandria. Brasov at the other side dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. They share it with Craiova and Alba Iulia. Cluj Napoca is looking forward to face Oradea (#14) in Oradea in the next round. Brasov will play at home against Targu Mures (#15) and is hoping to win this game.
