Not a big story in a game when bottom-ranked USC Leipzig (0-4) was defeated at home by eighth ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (2-1) 86-80 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. MLP Academics Heidelberg forced 23 USC Leipzig turnovers. Canadian guard Tristan Blackwood (183-85) fired 9 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Power forward Oliver Komarek (210-86) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. American center Chris Gadley (207-87, college: Canisius) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and forward Walter Simon (202-89, college: Cumberland) added 16 points and 10 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) respectively for lost side. Four USC Leipzig players scored in double figures. MLP Academics Heidelberg moved-up to seventh place. Newly promoted USC Leipzig still closes the standings with four games lost. MLP Academics Heidelberg will face higher ranked Ehingen/Urspringschule (#5) in Allmendingen in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. USC Leipzig will play on the road against BG Goettingen (#3) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
