Regular Season Round 4: Statyba - Olimpas 97-89

Everything could happen in Vilnius at the game between two tied teams. Both third ranked Statyba and 9th ranked Olimpas had identical 2-1 record. This time Statyba used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from 97-89. Olimpas was ahead by 3 points at the halftime before a 51-40 second half run of Statyba. They made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Olimpas turnovers. The winners were led by point guard Ovidijus Varanauskas (187-91) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 assists and guard Martynas Paliukenas (195-93) supported him with 19 points and 5 steals (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Even 17 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 8 steals by guard Ignas Razutis (185-87) did not help to save the game for Olimpas. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Statyba (3-1) moved-up to second place, which they share with 5 other teams. Olimpas at the other side dropped to the eighth position with two games lost. Statyba's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Vilnius to the arena Perlas-MRU.
