Very important is a home loss of first ranked Herten Lions (2-1) against tenth ranked Oldenburg (1-2) on Saturday night. Host Herten Lions were defeated by Oldenburg in a tough game in Herten 77-82. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Herten Lions. The guests were already 11 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 23-17 Herten Lions' run in the last quarter cut the lead to 82-77 at the end of the game. It was an exceptional evening for forward Alexander Witte (206-90) who led the winners and scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. American guard Michael Taylor (193-87, college: Whitworth) accounted for 19 points and 4 assists for the winning side. American forward Will Taylor (200-89, college: Cal Poly - SLO) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and power forward Christoph Hackenesch (204-86) added 10 points and 14 rebounds respectively for Herten Lions in the defeat. Five Herten Lions players scored in double figures. Oldenburg left bottom position moving up to sixth place in Group North, which they share with 5 other teams. Herten Lions at the other side dropped to the third position with one game lost. They share it with BSW Sixers and SU Medien. Oldenburg will play against higher ranked BSW Sixers (#3) in Sandersdorf in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Herten Lions will have a break next round.
