Regular Season Round 4: Zalgiris-Sabonio - Gargzdai 91-62

Bottom-ranked Gargzdai-Bremena (0-4) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 91-62 loss to seventh ranked Zalgiris-Sabonio (3-1) in Kaunas on Saturday evening. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. The game without a history. Zalgiris-Sabonio led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Zalgiris-Sabonio forced 26 Gargzdai-Bremena turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Zalgiris-Sabonio especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Ernestas Serkevicius (187-95) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and Justas Tamulis (194-94, agency: Beo Basket) who added 14 points during the contest. Five Zalgiris-Sabonio players scored in double figures. Zalgiris-Sabonio's coach Tomas Masiulis felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side forward Laurynas Lucinskas (201-93) responded with 17 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Dominikas Matutis (180-91) scored 14 points. Zalgiris-Sabonio moved-up to second place, which they share with 5 other teams. Loser Gargzdai-Bremena still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Radviliskis. Zalgiris-Sabonio will meet league's second-placed Meresta in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gargzdai-Bremena will play against Dzukija (#11) in Alytus and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
