Regular Season Round 3: Oberhausen - Halle 54-70

Very significant was SV Halle Lions' (#5) 16-point road victory against 7th ranked Oberhausen 70-54. It was a key game for the second position in the league. It looked good early as Oberhausen took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then SV Halle Lions had a 21-7 second period charge getting the lead and Oberhausen was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 54-70. SV Halle Lions dominated on the defensive end, holding Oberhausen to just 7 points in second quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Oberhausen's 28. It was an exceptional evening for Canadian forward Tamara Tatham (185-85, college: Massachusetts) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Forward Laura Hebecker (181-93) accounted for 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. International swingman Sarah Austmann (179-85) came up with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists and American center Chanita Jordan (196-87, college: Bowie St., agency: Gamble Sports Management) added 12 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks respectively for Oberhausen in the defeat. Four Oberhausen players scored in double figures. SV Halle Lions (2-1) moved-up to second place, which they share with 5 other teams. Oberhausen at the other side dropped to the eighth position with two games lost. They share it with Wolfenbuettel and Rhein MB. SV Halle Lions will play against Osnabruck (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Oberhausen will play against Eisvogel Freiburg to get more than just one victory in their record.
