An interesting game where Hannover (#6) beat host Hagen Phoenix (#8) 61-56 on Sunday evening. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 21-5 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Hannover dominated on the defensive end, holding Hagen Phoenix to just 5 points in third quarter. It was a great evening for American forward Alexa Mennen (185-87, college: N.Iowa) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds. Guard Annika Schudak (160) helped adding 17 points. The best for the losing side was swingman Elina Stahmeyer (180-91) with 10 points and 6 rebounds and guard Kimberly Pohlmann (180-92) scored 10 points. Hagen Phoenix's coach Ulrich Overhoff tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Hannover (2-1) moved-up to third place in North, which they share with Quakenbrueck and Bielefeld. Loser Hagen Phoenix dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. They share it with 5 other teams. Hannover will meet at home league's second-placed ChemCats Chemnitz in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
