The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeated Brose Baskets (2-1) in Quakenbrueck on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by eleventh ranked Artland Dragons (2-2) 78-72. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Brose Baskets. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Brose Baskets won third quarter 16-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Artland Dragons made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. Artland Dragons had a 15-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. 26 personal fouls committed by Brose Baskets helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Bryce Taylor (196-86) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his twelve free throws !!!). American-Cypriot power forward Anthony King (206-85, college: Miami, FL, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Artland Dragons players scored in double figures. Slovenian forward Bostjan Nachbar (207-80) replied with 27 points and 9 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) and Slovakian point guard Anton Gavel (188-84, agency: Pro One Sports) added 17 points and 4 assists in the effort for Brose Baskets. Artland Dragons moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Defending champion Brose Baskets keep the fourth position with one game lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Artland Dragons is looking forward to face higher ranked Telekom Baskets (#7) in Bonn in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Brose Baskets will play at home against Mitteldeutscher BC in Weissenfels and are hoping to win this game.
