Regular Season Round 9: Budivelnyk - Halychyna 80-75

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Budivelnyk as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Budivelnyk defeated 6th ranked Halychyna in Kyiv 80-75. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Halychyna. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Halychyna won third quarter 23-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American forward Leo Lyons (206-87, college: Missouri, agency: Edge Sports) who scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. The former international Artur Drozdov (200-80) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds. Four Budivelnyk players scored in double figures. Budivelnyk's coach Ainars Bagatskis used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was Serbian power forward Vladan Vukosavljevic (206-84, agency: Beo Basket) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds and American point guard Darrel Mitchell (181-84, college: LSU, agency: Beo Basket) added 18 points respectively. Budivelnyk (5-0) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Halychyna at the other side keeps the sixth place with two games lost. They share the position with Hoverla. Halychyna will play next round against strong Azovmash trying to get back on the winning streak. Budivelnyk will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
