Regular Season Round 3: Chemnitz - Goettingen 80-60

There was no surprise when 5th ranked Goettingen (1-2) was crushed on the road by leader ChemCats Chemnitz (3-0) 80-60 on Sunday. The game without a history. ChemCats Chemnitz led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 22-of-23 free shots (95.7 percent) during the game. ChemCats Chemnitz outrebounded Goettingen 34-19 including 23 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Candace Williams (183-88, college: New Hampshire) who scored 39 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds. Her fellow American import guard Eryn Jones (172-90, college: Portland St.) chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Polish forward Klaudia Grudzien (183-90) who recorded 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and American swingman Jenele Peterson (174, college: Whitman) added 20 points respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. ChemCats Chemnitz have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of North leader, which they share with Berlin. Loser Goettingen dropped to the sixth place with two games lost. ChemCats Chemnitz will face Hannover (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Goettingen will play against Quakenbrueck Dragons and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
