Regular Season Round 10: Azovmash - Halychyna 73-80

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Azovmash (5-2) against seventh ranked Halychyna (4-2) on Wednesday night. Host Azovmash was defeated by Halychyna in a tough game in Mariupol 73-80. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Azovmash. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-11. But Azovmash won second period 20-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Azovmash 39-27 including a 31-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. American point guard Darrel Mitchell (181-84, college: LSU, agency: Beo Basket) scored 22 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Michael Lee (207-86) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American point guard Lynn Greer (186-79, college: Temple) responded with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and Bosnian point guard Nemanja Gordic (192-88) scored 16 points and 4 assists. Four Azovmash players scored in double figures. Azovmash's coach Aleksandar Kesar rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Halychyna moved-up to fifth place, which they share with BC Donetsk and Hoverla. Azovmash at the other side keeps the third position with two games lost. Halychyna will play against BC Donetsk (#6) on the road in the next round. Azovmash will play against Hoverla in Frankivsk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
