Everything could happen in Bursa at the game between two tied teams. Both fifteenth ranked Tofas and bottom-ranked Mersin had identical 0-1 record. This time Tofas used a home court advantage and edged the opponent from Akdeniz 71-68 on Friday night. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Mersin won third quarter 21-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American-Ukrainian guard Steven Burtt (185-84, college: Iona) who scored 23 points and 5 rebounds. Prince (201-87, college: Tennessee) produced 13 points and 9 rebounds and naturalized American forward Ali Karadeniz (203-80, college: Arizona) added 18 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) respectively for the guests. Four Mersin players scored in double figures. Tofas (1-1) left bottom position moving up to fifth place, which they share with 7 other teams. Loser Mersin still closes the standings with two games lost. Tofas will face Besiktas (#7) in Istanbul in the next round. Mersin will play on the road against the league's second-placed Fenerbahce Ulker (#2) in Istanbul.
