Regular Season Round 5: Phoenix Hagen - TBB Trier 78-83

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Phoenix Hagen (2-3) was defeated at home by sixth ranked TBB Trier (3-1) 83-78. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-14. But Phoenix Hagen won second period 26-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. TBB Trier made 20-of-22 charity shots (90.9 percent) during the game. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. Guard Barry Stewart (191-88, college: Mississippi St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 28 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Forward Nate Linhart (201-86, college: Akron) contributed with 10 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Linhart is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. TBB Trier's coach Henrik Roedl allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Guard David Bell (186-81, agency: Three Eye Sports) answered with 28 points and forward Larry Gordon (196-87, college: Cal Poly Pomona) added 19 points in the effort for Phoenix Hagen. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. TBB Trier moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Brose Baskets. Phoenix Hagen at the other side keeps the tenth position with three games lost. TBB Trier's next round opponent will be Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (#14) at home and are hoping to win another game. Phoenix Hagen will play against ratiopharm Ulm (#3).
