There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Cuxhaven BasCats (3-2) crushed at home 6th ranked Kirchheim Knights (3-2) 98-66 on Saturday. The game without a history. Cuxhaven BasCats led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 58.3 percentage. Cuxhaven BasCats looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Kirchheim Knights' players. American players dominated also this game. point guard Jeremiah Kelly (182, college: De Paul) orchestrated the victory by scoring 31 points and 9 assists. Forward Scott Thomas (200-89, college: Bowling Green) contributed with 24 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Cuxhaven BasCats' coach Krists Plendiskis felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. point guard Chris Alexander (186-83, college: Southern) answered with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Marcus Smallwood (198-82, college: N.Illinois, agency: Court Side) added 11 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Kirchheim Knights. Cuxhaven BasCats moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 6 other teams including defeated Kirchheim Knights. Cuxhaven BasCats will face Science City Jena (#15) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Kirchheim Knights will play against Oettinger Rockets Gotha (#14).
