Regular Season Round 1: Dynamo - Elizabeth-Basket 83-82

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Elizabeth-Basket (0-1) in Kyiv on Saturday night. Visitors were edged by Dynamo (1-0) 83-82. It was a key game for the top position in the league as both teams had the same 0-0 record before this meeting. Elizabeth-Basket was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 21-15 charge of Dynamo, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Elizabeth-Basket's 36 and made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. American guard Juanita Ward (180-86, college: Syracuse, agency: Merit Sports) fired a double-double by scoring 29 points and 12 rebounds (made all of her thirteen free throws !!!) for the winners. Four Dynamo and five Elizabeth-Basket players scored in double figures. Dynamo keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Bar Regina-B. Elizabeth-Basket at the other side still closes the standings with one game lost. They share the position with Interkhim. Dynamo is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Interkhim (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Elizabeth-Basket will play against Frankivsk-Hal. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
