Bottom-ranked Don Bosco Bamberg (0-4) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 77-60 loss to tenth ranked Wildcats Wolfenbuettel (2-2) in Wolfenbuettel on Saturday evening. The game without a history. Wildcats Wolfenbuettel led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Wildcats Wolfenbuettel outrebounded Don Bosco Bamberg 40-22 including a 26-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Samantha Whitcomb (178, college: Washington) who helped to win the game recording 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Latvian center Ieva Kulite (191-88) who added 9 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Four Wildcats Wolfenbuettel players scored in double figures. Wildcats Wolfenbuettel's coach Vlastibor Klimes used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American center Brett Benzio (190-90, college: Tulane) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and guard Kathrin Gut (175) scored 15 points and 4 assists. Defending champion moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Osnabruck. Newly promoted Don Bosco Bamberg still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Herner. Wildcats Wolfenbuettel will meet Oberhausen (#9) on the road in the next round. Don Bosco Bamberg will play against the league's leader TSV 1880 Wasserburg having rather not much hope for a victory.
