Very expected game when bottom-ranked Farul Const. (0-4) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Giurgiu (3-1) 87-71 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Giurgiu. Farul Const. was better in fourth quarter 15-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Giurgiu dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Farul Const.'s 28. American guard Brian Burrell (192-84, college: UTPA, agency: TSS Management) fired 22 points and 4 steals (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. Bahamas center Trevor Harvey (211-80, college: Florida St.) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Five Giurgiu players scored in double figures. American guard Cardell McFarland (182-87, college: Ky Wesleyan) produced 23 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and his fellow American import guard Jeremi Booth (195-87, college: Appalachian St.) added 13 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Giurgiu have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with 4 other teams. Newly promoted Farul Const. still closes the standings with four games lost. Giurgiu will face Targu Mures (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Farul Const. will play against Craiova (#7) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
