Regular Season Round 12: Dnipro - DniproAzot 87-78

There was a minor upset in Dnepropetrovsk where 10th ranked DniproAzot (1-5) was defeated by twelfth ranked Dnipro (2-5) 87-78 on Sunday. DniproAzot was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 25-12 charge of Dnipro, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Lithuanian forward Valdas Vasylius (203-83, college: ODU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and American point guard Derrick Low (188-86, college: Washington St.) who added 19 points and 6 assists during the contest. Four Dnipro players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Ronald Davis (190-82, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) with 23 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and his fellow American import forward Sam Muldrow (205-88, college: S.Carolina) scored 9 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Dnipro moved-up to tenth place. DniproAzot lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with five games lost. They share it with Mykolaiv. Dnipro will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. DniproAzot will play against Budivelnyk (#4) in Kyiv.
