Very predictable result when top-ranked Bakken (7-0) defeated on the road 9th ranked Vaerlose (1-6) 87-69 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Bakken. Vaerlose managed to win fourth quarter 21-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 26-of-32 free shots (81.3 percent) during the game, while Vaerlose only scored eight points from the stripe. Strangely Vaerlose outrebounded Bakken 45-31 including 30 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American point guard Chad Tomko (180-89, college: NC-Wilmington) who scored 23 points. The former international power forward Nicolai Iversen (205-80, college: San Jose City JC) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. Tomko is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Bakken players scored in double figures. Power forward Rasmus Norgaard (205-90) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds and Icelandic Axel Karason (194-83) added 9 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Bakken have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Svendborg. Vaerlose lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with six games lost. Bakken will meet Horsens IC (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Vaerlose will have a break next round.
