Regular Season Round 8: Naestved - Vaerlose 75-70
Date: October 24, 2012
Very expected game when 9th ranked Vaerlose (1-6) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Naestved (4-4) 75-70 on Wednesday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The game without a history. Naestved led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. The best player for the winners was American guard Caleb Walker (193-89, college: Nebraska) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import power forward Joe Benjamin (200-83, college: W.Virginia St.) chipped in 15 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). American guard Richard Delk (193-86, college: Troy) produced 21 points and 5 rebounds and Icelandic Axel Karason (194-83) added 17 points respectively for the guests. Four Vaerlose players scored in double figures. Vaerlose's coach Thomas Silfen rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Naestved maintains fifth position with 4-4 record. Vaerlose lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with six games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
