Regular Season Round 13: BC Donetsk - Ferro-ZNTU 86-59

Superleague round 13 caused change at the leadership position. Second defeat of league's leader Ferro-ZNTU (6-2) against eighth ranked BC Donetsk (5-3) 86-59 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Ferro-ZNTU. The game was mostly controlled by BC Donetsk. Ferro-ZNTU managed to win fourth quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BC Donetsk dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Ferro-ZNTU's 28. They outrebounded Ferro-ZNTU 44-31 including a 36-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. BC Donetsk looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Ferro-ZNTU's players. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Doron Perkins (188-83, college: Santa Clara) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists. His fellow American import guard Ramel Curry (192-80, college: CSU Bakersfield) contributed with 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four BC Donetsk players scored in double figures. American-Italian forward Daniel Werner (203-87, college: Florida) answered with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds and American R.T. Guinn (208-81, college: Baylor) added 11 points in the effort for Ferro-ZNTU. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion moved-up to fifth place. Ferro-ZNTU at the other side dropped to the second position with two games lost. They share it with Khimik. They were replaced at the leadership position by Azovmash. Ferro-ZNTU will play next round against league's leader Azovmash trying to make it back to the top of the standings. BC Donetsk will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Kryvbasbasket in Krivoy Rog.
