Regular Season Round 7: Gargzdai - Birstono 79-60

Gargzdai-Bremena can celebrate finally their first win this season after six consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat Birstono (2-5) 79-60. It looked good early as Birstono took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Gargzdai-Bremena had a 20-17 second period charge getting the lead and Birstono was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 60-79. They outrebounded Birstono 42-29 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Gargzdai-Bremena especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of center Remigijus Untulis (205-88, college: Robert Morris, agency: Dynamics Global Management) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). point guard Dominikas Matutis (180-91) contributed with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Gargzdai-Bremena players scored in double figures. Paulius Kleiza (195-88) answered with 23 points and forward Paulius Petrilevicius (201-91) added 9 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Birstono. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gargzdai-Bremena (1-6) left bottom position moving up to seventeenth place, which they share with Silute. Birstono at the other side keeps the fourteenth position with five games lost. They share it with Nafta Universitetas and Radviliskis. Gargzdai-Bremena will play against higher ranked Olimpas (#9) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Birstono will play against Suduva-Mantinga (#3) having rather not much hope for a victory.
