Regular Season Round 14: Azovmash - Ferro-ZNTU 85-88

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Azovmash (7-3) in Mariupol on Friday night. Hosts were edged by Ferro-ZNTU (7-2) 88-85. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Azovmash. It was a key game for the top position in the league as both teams had the same 6-2 record before this meeting. Ferro-ZNTU made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Americans were the main players on the court. Guard Randy Culpepper (182-89, college: UTEP) scored 40 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Jeremy Chappell (191-87, college: Robert Morris) chipped in 17 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Guard Manny Harris (196-89, college: Michigan) responded with 28 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Lynn Greer (186-79, college: Temple) scored 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Five Azovmash players scored in double figures. Azovmash's coach Aleksandar Kesar rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ferro-ZNTU keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Khimik. Azovmash at the other side dropped to the third place with three games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
