Regular Season Round 2: Dynamo - Interkhim 78-63

There was no surprise in Kyiv where bottom-ranked Interkhim (0-2) was defeated by top-ranked Dynamo (2-0) 78-63 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Dynamo. Interkhim managed to win fourth quarter 17-7. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Dynamo forced 23 Interkhim turnovers. American guard Juanita Ward (180-86, college: Syracuse, agency: Merit Sports) scored 28 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 14-for-14 from the free throw line !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Kimberly Williams (168-74, college: De Paul, agency: Merit Sports) chipped in 14 points during the contest. Swingman Svitlana Kolibabchuk (186-87) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and guard Natalia Kolotovska (174-90) scored 13 points. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Dynamo keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Bar Regina-B. Loser Interkhim still closes the standings with two games lost. They share the position with Frankivsk-Hal.. Dynamo will meet Frankivsk-Hal. (#5) on the road in the next round. Interkhim will play against Tim-Scuf in Kyiv and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
